"...506 Private Thomas Herbert Bentley, 23rd Battalion, of Melbourne (originally Belfast, Ireland). Pte Bentley enlisted on 25 February 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Euripides on 10 May 1915. He later served as a Sergeant with the 23rd Battalion. On 19 June 1916 he died of wounds at Armentieres, France." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)

20 September 1916 Admitted to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, Gallipoli;

26 September 1915 to HS 'Dunluce Castle;

8 October 1915 Malta; to England;

15 October 1915 Admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham.

24 March 1916 Proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Forces, France ex Weymouth Command Depot;

25 March 1916 Taken on strength by 2nd Australian Divisional Base, Etaples, France;

21 April 1916 Rejoined 23rd Bn.

19 June 1916 Admitted to 6th Field Ambulance (shell wounds, compound fracture right leg, head);

19 June 1916 To 2nd Casualty Clearing Station;

Also served in in the Royal Navy for 4.5 years; 1st Class Certificate for Gunnery
