Add my storyBiography contributed by Adelaide High School
Robert John Doran was born in approximately December 1890 in North Adelaide. Before enlisting into the war Doran was working as a clerk for some time and was baptised Roman Catholic. He also was single and his next of kin was his mother who lived on Cumming Street, Mile End. Doran was 5 foot 11 inches and ¾ and had a fair complexion.
After sailing to Europe, Doran was wounded in action at Pozieres on 31 July 1916, suffering from shell shock; he may also have been suffering from a slight leg wound. He did not return to action in France but served out the remainder of the war in England.
