Son of David Oliver and Emma Oliver nee Jenkins of Darley, Bacchus Marsh, Victoria.
Brother of Thomas David Oliver who returned to Australia on 11 February 1919 having served with the 1st Machine Gun Battalion.
During 1904c David married Agnes Cecilia Ryan in Victoria
Commenced return to Australia on 21 March 1919 aboard HT Kildonian Castle disembarking on 7 May 1919
