Son of Alfred Edward Upham and Clara Upham of Gustin Road, Hammersmith, London, England.

6 November 1915 - enlisted at Dubbo, NSW with the 7th Light Horse Regiment with the rank of Private.

8 November 1918 - promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal

Commenced return to Australia on 28 June 1919 aboard HT Madras disembarking on 3 August 1919

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

14 October 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District
