John Huntley Fairhall was born on 20 Mar 1885 in Maclean, New South Wales.
John was a Compositer in 1914. He was described as being 5ft 8in (173cm) in height, weighing 144 lbs (66Kg), Chest 34" (86cm), with dark complexion, blue eyes and brown hair on 22 Oct 1914.

He began military service on 22 Oct 1914 in Lismore, New South Wales, and served in the 5th Light Horse (Service No. 344) Regiment, B Squadron, in Egypt and Gallipoli (second landing force). His name appears on the Roll of Honour at Canberra War Memorial. John reached the rank of Quartermaster-Sergeant. He arrived home after being invalided from Cairo on 10 Apr 1916 with Phthsis, and was discharged from active service on 28 Jun 1916.

John Huntley Fairhall married Myrtle Emily Whipps, daughter of Arthur Whipps and Mary Elizabeth Penfold, on 20 Sep 1916 at 'Dungarubba' in Richmond River, New South Wales. John was a printer.

John Huntley Fairhall died on 2 Dec 1937 in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, at the age of 52. He was buried on 4 Dec 1939 at Woden Valley RSL Cemetery, 1 Justinian Street (Grave location recorded as: Allotment: EX/O/A/147) in Woden, Australian Capital Territory.
