Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Mrs Lucy Johnston, Spring Vale Station, Winton, Queensland

Prior to enlistment Jack was working on Oondooroo Station, Winton

His earlier appliation to enlist had been rejected because he was halfcaste.  Walter Joseph Millar of Mt. Stasia, Bororen, Gladstone was the sole beneficiary of John's will, verified by 2nd Lieutant P.H. Sandford, CO.  Departmental letters from 1922 and 1923 indicate the inability to contact Mrs. Lucy Johnston or any other relatives.  His medals are now held by the Winton District Historical Society & Museum Inc.
