“This man acted as a runner during the attack of the 31st Battn from WAFUSEE-ABANCOURT on the 8/8/18 and did splendid work. On the 9/8/18 during the advance of C Coy to a forward position, he volunteered to carry an important message to the OC “C” Coy. Although seriously wounded he struggled on and delivered the message displaying bravery and devotion to duty of a very high order. Throughout the operation he displayed utter disregard for personal safety and set a splendid example to all with whom he came in contact. ”
