Albert Board was born on the 19th of October 1891 in Bowmans, South Australia. His parents were William Board and Elizabeth Board (nee Fraser). Before he enlisted in the war Albert Board worked as a farmer labourer
Prior to enlisting, Albert Board was slightly deaf which was noted as being worse by the end of the war as stated in a medical report dated January 1920.
When Albert Board was 23 and 8 months, on the 28th of June 1915, he enlisted at Keswick South Australia. He was placed into the 9th Lighthorse Regiment as a Private and began his training at base depot in Adelaide. His next of kin was his father, William Board.
Once Albert Board finished his training, he embarked to Heliopolis aboard the HMAT A24 Benalla on the 27th of October 1915. He marched out to Heliopolis in February 1916, Albert Board fought at Serapeum in the Battle of Romani. This was a part of the Sinai and Palestine Campaign fought in Egypt. The Battle of Romani took place in August of 1916 and was intense trench warfare along the Suez Canal. Albert Board also fought in the Battle of Beersheba in late October 1917.
Albert Board returned to Australia on the HT Aeneas embarking 22nd November 1919 and arriving back at Port Adelaide 6th January 1920. He was discharged in March 1920.
After the war ended, Albert Board married Jean Aitken Board (nee Stockwell) on the 15th of February 1927 at Maughan Church in Adelaide. A few years later her had three daughters: Willa, Heather and Margaret.
Albert Board died on the 6th of June 1952 aged 60. He was buried at Balaklava Public cemetery in South Australia.
