Husband of Annie Louisa Hawkes nee Leane of Naracoorte, SA. Harry and Annie married on 24 May 1900 in the Congregational Church, Rose Park, SA

Prior to enlisting he was employed by the South Australian Railways, Islington, SA

Commenced return to Australia on 23 June 1919 aboard HT Orita disembarking on 1 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Adelaide
