Enlistment Details
7028 PTE William James Curtin (Roman Catholic) was born at Young and was a labourer at Bogan Gate when he enlisted in Trundle on 15 August 1915.
He was married to Mrs Agnes Curtin, Gordon Crescent, Stanmore.
His unit, 17th Battalion, 21st Reinforcement embarked from Sydney, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on 31 October 1917, aged 31 years.
He was Killed in Action 15 May 1918 and buried at Dove Copse British Cemetery (Plot III, Row G, Grave No. II), Sailly-le-Sec, France and remembered at Australian War Memorial, Roll of Honour, Panel 82
He was awarded British War Medal (58697) and Victory Medal (57657)
