"...6517 Private Herbert Thomas Henry Hughes, 2nd Battalion, of Bimbi, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting in June 1916, Pte Hughes embarked from Sydney with the 21st Reinforcements aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916. After further training in England they arrived in France for service on the Western Front on 16 February 1917. Pte Hughes was killed in action in France on 17 April 1918.
