Full name Herbert Ernest Quirk but served as Ernest Quirk.
Son of Edward Quirk and Louisa Quirk nee Barber of Moore Street, South Yarra, Victoria.
Brother of William Edward Quirk who returned to Australia on 24 September 1917 having served with the 24th Battalion; Harold Quirk who returned to Australia on 30 January 1918 having served with the 37th Battalion; Frank Quirk who returned to Australia on 21 March 1918 having served with the 24th Battalion
Commenced return to Australia on 23 September 1918 aboard HT Runic disembarking on 26 November 1918
