"THE LATE PRIVATE JOHN THOMPSON.
Private John Thompson, who was killed in action in France on August 23, was 26 years of age. He was a general favorite among a wide circle of friends. An elder brother and a step-brother have answered the call, and are at the front. His step-brother was wounded and sent to England, but has recovered by now." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 14 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
