Son of Charles Vicary and Grace Vicary of East Emlett, Morhards Bishopsgate, England.

Brother of Frederick Charles Vicary who returned to Australia on the 21 May 1919 having served with the 10th Field Artillery Brigade and Arthur James Vicary who returned to Australia on 3 January 1918 having served with the 10th Field Artillery Brigade

Commenced return to Australia on 27 March 1917 aboard HS Beltana disembarking 12 May 1917 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
