A romantic sequel has followed the breaking of the engagement between the Rev. John Newton Stephen and Miss Brenda Delvitte over a month ago. On the eve of the wedding, the bride and bridegroom quarrelled. The guests were notified that the wedding was off, and all presents were returned (except the offerings, at a kitchen tea.) Miss Delvittetook herself, out to New Zealand. Mr.Stephen followed, and at the end of last week they were married in St. Mary's Cathedral, Auckland, by the Rev. Canon James. The Rev. Newton Stephen is rector of St. Matthias', Paddington. The parish is getting ready to welcome him and his bride with open arms on their return from New Zealand. St. Matthias has no rectory at present. For the past few months Mr. Stephen has been the guest of the Misses Mowle, at Spencer Lodge, Wooollahra. A flat has been taken in Lang-road. Centennial Park, for the happy pair.
