The routine of clerical work in the examination and bursaries branch of the Department of Education was pleasantly broken into lately, wiien one of the junior officers, Mr. Ellis Cork, an old Fort-street boy, was presented by Mr. -Durie, on behalf of his office staff mates, with a letter case suitably inscribed and filled Mr. Cork’s enlisting for active service is another instance of the sword’s attraction proving mightier than that of the pen. He comes from a family of good rifle shots, is a marksman himself, and carries with him the best wishes
of his brother officers in his new career.
