This N.C.O. was in charge of two Stokes mortars, which he handled with great ability. Pushing his guns forward with the advancing waves, he brought them into action in an exposed position swept by machine gun fire, and did excellent work, covering the advance of the infantry London Gazette on 10 January 1920, page 473, position 12 Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 15 April 1920, page 582, position 8
