The McDonnell family, of Brisbane, have a proud record. Seven sons have served with, the A.I.F. One has been killed, four have been wounded, and several are still serving. The father, Mr. Patrick McDonnell, was born, at Banagher, Cloghan, King's Country, Ireland, and came to Queensland in 1901, with his wife and 12 children—seven sons and five daughters. When the war broke out, six of the sons went to the war, and the seventh son is now in camp, ready to go. Edward was killed on April 21, 1916. Other sons have been wounded time after time, and returned to the firing lines. The father is now working for the Brisbane Council. He has also a son in-law and nephew at the front.
