Son of John Owers and Marthat Owers of Myalla, NSW.

Brother of Frederick John Owers who returned to Australia on 15 April 1918 having served with the 53rd Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 10 January 1918 aboard HT Corinthic disembarking on 3 March 1918 then transhipped to Sydney on 4 March 1918 aboard HT Port Darwin disembarking on 7 March 1918.

During 1926c David married Vera Emily Margaret Miners in Cooma, NSW.
