The details provided are taken from the book "Stealth Raiders - a few daring men in 1918" written by Lucas Jordan, published 2017, refer to pages 71 & 277. Prior to the war he was a seaman, home port of Christchurch NZ. He enlisted in Australia 1st Oct 1914 aged 24 years. He served with the 5th Infantry Battalion rising to the rank of sergeant. During his service he was awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal and a Military Medal. He survived the war, departing the UK for home 8th Oct 1918.
