Biography

William Hoskin GIBSON was born in June quarter 1879 in Leighton (Leyton) Essex, England S/N 338 He signed up for WW1 18.7.1916 His parents were Robert Taylor GIBSON and Ann LLOYD His father Robert was a shipwright & engineer & surveyor with the board of trade Robert was born in 1833 in Lancashire His mother Ann LLOYD was Welsh - they married in 1869 in Conway which spans the boundary of Caernarvonshire & Denbighshire in Wales William died of wounds on 11.3.1917 at the 45th Clearing Station, France A memorial plaque & scroll was issued on 8.8.1922 in England to his sister Mrs. Jane MARTLEW Link to a photo of his headstone in Dernancourt Communal Cemetery, Picardie, France http://twgpp.org/information.php?id=3404457 Sources: UK Census 1881 UK BDM Australian War Memorial National Archives Australia
