Logan Village Museum

Vincent was born 18th July 1878 in Veresdale Queensland. He died 11th Feb 1917 at Fargo Military Hospital Wiltshire England. He is buried in Durrington.
His Parents were Verdon and Christina nee Nicol.
He is remembered in the Logan Village Museum WW1 Honour Roll as one of the Pioneer families of the district.

Died on this date - 11th February........I thought previous posts I had made were bad days but today is worse - 6 WW1 Australian Soldiers died in England on this date in 1917....

Private Vincent Alexander Hinchcliffe was born at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane Queensland & enlisted in the A.I.F. on 10th April, 1916 as a 36 year old Farmer from Veresdale, Queensland.
Private Hinchcliffe arrived in England on HMAT Boonah (A36) with 4th Reinforcements of 42nd Battalion on 10th January, 1917. He was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire on 31st January, 1917 with influenza but sadly died at 12.42 a.m. on 11th February, 1917 from Bronchitis & Asthma.

There were SIX AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS were buried in Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire where there are a total of 141 Australian WW Soldiers.
Privates Hinchcliffe, Ley & Wheatley were buried in 15th February, 1917 & Privates Lane, McElhenney & Pantlin were buried on 16th February. His full story can be found here....
