PRIVATE R. L. (REG.) UNGER.
Information was received from the Defence department on Thursday by Miss E. Unger, of Hopper-street, Bendigo, stating that her brother, Private R. L. Unger, had been killed in  action on 4th October in France. Private Unger enlisted about two years ago, and received training in the Bendigo and Broadmeadows Camps, being attached to the 38th Battalion.  He was then transferred to Salisbury Plain. After brief instruction there he was sent to France, and had been there for a considerable time. He was wounded, and after  recuperating was again sent to the trenches, and was there until reported killed. Private Unger was 23 years of age, and previous to enlistment was employcd at Messrs. Jones, Miller and Co.'s.  He was a member of the Sandhurst Rowing Club. His sisters are Mrs. Churches, who resides at Bacchus Marsh, and Mrs. Biggs and Miss E. Unger, of Hopper-street, Bendigo.
