Son of Timothy Quinn and Ellen Quinn of Park Street, Scone, NSW.
Brother of Timothy James Quinn who returned to Australia on 1 July 1919 having served with the 4th Battalion; William Vincent Quinn who returned to Australia on 15 April 1918 having served with the 34th Battalion; Michael Joseph Quinn who died of wounds on 18 October 1917 while serving with the 34th Battalion. Michael was buried in the Nine Elms British Cemetery, Plot V1, Row C, Grave 22.
Commenced return to Australia on 10 January 1918 aboard HT Corinthic disembarking on 2 March 1918 at Melbourne then transhipped aboard HT Port Darwin for Sydney

During 1919c Dennis married Bettina M. Simpson in Scone, NSW
