Melville George Coombs was a soldier who severed during World War One and is remembered for starting in the force from the 20th of March 1916 until the end of the war, he was awarded three different awards, he fought bravely in the war before passing away in the hospital after a year. Family members close to him would remember him for his specialties. Melville George Coombs was born on 1897, November 5th, he was born in Renmark and became known for his role in the war in the unit 2nd Depot Battalion A.I.F. 

Before the war Melville lived in Renmark with his parents George Moorna Coombs and Ann Chalker and worked as a Labourer. On the 20th of March 1916 Melville George Coombs enlisted in the AIF and was assigned in the 2nd Depot Battalion for training. He was taken on strength with the 48th Battalion in September 1916 and fought on the Western Front.

He died 27th of September 1980 at the age of 83 and was buried at the Renmark Cemetery.
