Frederich left Melbourne on HMAT A60 Acusas on 30 October 1917, disembarking at Devonport, England on 27 December and proceeded to France from Sutton Veny on 19 March 1918. He served there for the remainder of the war before being returned to Australia on the Ferdinand on 8 July 1919 and discharged on 21 September.
