Biography

"...119 Private Percy Place Marlow, 38th Battalion. Pte Marlow enlisted on 1 March 1916 and embarked from Melbourne on 20 June 1916 aboard HMAT A54 Runic. After serving in France and Belgium he returned to Australia on 27 May 1919. Five brothers, all farmers, enlisted from the Marlow family of Mologa Victoria with only two surviving. The other four were: 2123 Private (Pte) Charles Edward Marlow, 38th Battalion killed in action on 26 April 1918; Lieutenant Allan Sharp Marlow (twin of Pte Percy Marlow) who returned to Australia on 19 August 1919; 2363 Pte Alfred Wilfred Marlow, 38th Battalion, who was killed in action on 17 July 1917 and 2748 Corporal George Tennyson Marlow, 2nd Brigade Trench Mortar Battery, died of wounds on 21 September.
