Biography contributed by Beverley Stocker

Son of Maria and William. Husband of Selina. Brother of Harry (AIF)

George was a fisherman. He was born in Moonta but moved across the gulf to Cowell to fish on this side as did many of those young men born on Yorke Peninsula.

The Cowell Brass Band was a major entertainer in the district. The band had a large number of members, several of them Wisemans.  They played for many events, dances, parades and also toured the small towns of the district playing their music from the back of a flatbed truck. George was a talented cornet player by all accounts.
