BLAKE, John Sylvester

John Sylvester Blake was the son of Mr  J Blake, resident at 23 National Street, Leichhardt, Sydney, New South Wales when he enlisted.

He had previous service in the Senior Cadets and the Citizen Military Forces.  He was enlisted to the 2nd Infantry Battatlion

His vocation was listed as 'Carter'.

He embarked on the HMAT 'Medic' on 30 Deccember 1915 arriving in Egypt as the AIF was re-organising after Gallipoli, and in preparation for deployment to France and the Western Front.

He was re-assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in Action at the Battle of Menin Rd on 20 September 1917.
