He enlisted 13 November 1914.His unit-2nd Light Horse Brigade Train - embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A39 Port Macquarie on 21 December 1914-he was then 31 and a Driver.
He was awarded the Military Medal-Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 62-Date: 19 April 1917.
Returned to Australia 23 July 1919
