Additional information from the book "Stealth Raiders". Charles maintained diaries during his war service. These are held by the Mitchell Library, in the State Library of NSW, Sydney. reference ML MSS 1396.

The details provided are taken from the book "Stealth Raiders - a few daring men in 1918" written by Lucas Jordan, published 2017 - refer to page 263. Prior to the war he was an Assistant Tester with the PW Dept of North Sydney. He enlisted 8th Sep 1916 aged 37 years. He served with the 35th Infantry Battalion and had been transferred to 9th Brigade HQ. He survived the war and left the UK bound for home 12 June 1919.
