Biography contributed by Charles Herdy

Frederick Keith ("Keith") Looker joined 22nd Bn on 3 April 1915, shortly after the unit was raised at Broadmeadows Camp on 26 March 1915.  His younger brother William ("Bill") Looker was already in Egypt with 5th Bn, having joined the previous August.  Keith's listed occupation was Bank Clerk, and he was a keen amateur cricketer who had been noted in local papers several times.

Keith embarked with 22nd Bn for Egypt on 8 May 1915, and was promoted LCPL on 31 July 1915.  The battalion deployed to ANZAC on 5 September, the following day occupying the trenches at Lone Pine.

After spending 6 weeks in the trenches, Keith fell ill with an "Influenza"-like illness on 26 October.  This may have been any number of infectious diseases rife on ANZAC.  He was evacuated to Malta by 2 November, where his condition deteriorated and he ultimately died on 15 November 1915.  The cause of death was "jaundice", suggesting acute liver failure, but this could have been just one of many multi-organ complications related to a severe infective disease contracted in the trenches at ANZAC.
