John Galbraith was born in 1893 in Ryde New South Wales. John was the son of John and Maggie Galbraith. His religion was a Presbyterian.
At the age of 24, John enlisted on the 14th of Febuary 1917. He was allocated the Regimental Number 3198 and was posted to the 25th Reinforcement 7th Light Horse Regiment as a Trooper. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on HMAT A42 to Boorara on the 10th of May 1917.
