Private James Humphrey Moors was the youngest son of Humphrey and Harriet MOORS and was born at Broken Hill in New South Wales in 1900.
Private Moors was only 15 years old whe he enlisted on the 14th July 1915. He claimed to be almost 19 years and provided a letter of permission from his father. In October 1915 he embarked on the SS Hawkes Bay for the war with the 13th Light Horse Regiment.
His elder brother, Robert William, had also enlisted with an altered name and age. He enlisted as Private William Robert MOORE. However he sadly did not return and was killed at Pozieres on the 28th of July 1916, serving with the 32nd Battalion.
