Amiens Railway Gun
Les Strahan had been a driver for the Western Australian Railways. Therefore, he was able to drive the steam locomotive attached to a large railway gun that was captured near Villers-Bretonneux in northern France on 8th August 1918. The gun was brought to Australia and put on display at Sydney's Central Station.
See article "The Amiens Gun" Part 1, by Geoff Lillico and Bill Phippen OAM, in Australian Railway History April 2023, pages 4-11. Australian Railway History is published by the Australian Railway Historical Society.
