Even though he was actually 15 at the time of enlistment he recorded his age as 18 years 4 months and he recorded his DOB as 23/04/1898. At the time of enlistment he was living in Norwood, South Australia.
He was appointed to 6th Reinforcement 50th Battalion by Lieutenant Keith Wilkinson at the Mitcham AIF Camp on 21/10/1916.
Returned to Australia 19 June 1919
