Private Cecil Arthur Brown (Service No:67967) served in the AIF with 27th (NSW) General Reinforcements from 22 July 1918 to 23 December 1918. Private Brown had two years previous experience in the Militia with 2nd Battalion 17th Infantry.

Cecil was born in Sydney, NSW in 1900, third of four children of Arthur Haywood Brown (b1873 in Queanbeyan, NSW) and Annie Edith Maling (b1876 in Sydney, NSW). Arthur (a Printer) and Annie married in 1892 in Sydney, where they settled and raised their family until Arthur's death in 1922. Annie remained in Sydney until her death in 1963.

Cecil was working as an Audit Clerk in Sydney in 1918 when he enlisted in the AIF. In 1927 in Peak Hill, NSW Cecil married Nita (Doss) Doris Matthews (b1902 in Parkes, NSW). Cecil and Doss settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Cecil was an Auditor. Doss died in 1958 and Cecil in 1988.
