CLIVE EDGAR MUIR was born on 16th March, 1894, at Sydney, New South Wales, the son of Mr. Andrew and Mrs. Edith Muir. He entered the Bank's service on 9th April, 1913, at the William Street (Sydney ) Branch, being transferred to the Southern Branch on 16th of the same month.
Clive Edgar Muir enlisted in the A.I.F. on 10th July, 1915, and was appointed as a trooper to the 7th Light Horse, which regiment he joined about five months later in Egypt. In June, 1916, while still in Egypt, where he was on active service, he was transferred to the 13th Brigade of the Australian Field Artillery, and in October, 1916, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant in the 113th Howitzer Battery.
He was sent to France in 1917, where he was in action on the Somme and on the Ypres sector. At Passchendaele, on 9th October, 1917, he was severely wounded, remaining in hospital until 27th June, 1920, when he received his discharge.
