Son of Thomas hough and Mary Ann Hough nee O'Brien of 'Mountain Home', Barry Rene, Cowra, NSW

Brother of Michael Hough who returned to Australia on 5 July 1917 having served with the 3rd Battalion and John Hough who was killed in action on 1 September 1916 and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial

Commenced return to Australia on 23 May 1917 aboard HT Ayrshire disembarking on 20 July 1917
