Hugh Vaughan MASSIE stated he was born on 1.1.1893 Bairnsdale in his war records although his birth was not registered until 1895 (Sale) His parents were Frank Hamilton MASSIE and Mary Agnes O'NEILL S/N 1980 joined as a Private & later advance to Lieutenant He joined on 22.5.1915 - 22nd Australian Infanty Battalion Unit embarked from Melbourne on ship Anchises on 26.8.1915 Awarded the Military Medal He died 8.3.1917 Bapaume,Somme of wounds whilst a Prisoner of War in German Hands He also had a brother Frank Raymond MASSIE who died of disease in Damascus 15.10.1918
