Son of Joseph Howes and Mary Jane Howes nee Frances of Upper Roma Street, Brisbane, QLD

Commenced return to Australia on 20 July 1919 aboard HT Morvada disembarking on 28 August 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane.

On 12 June 1925 Jabez married Beatrice Irwin in QLD

Brother of Joseph Charles Howes who was killed in action on 25 April 1915 while serving with the 9th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Lone pine Memorial, Panel 12
