Son of Arthur Herbert and Henrietta Margaret McGlashan, of 63, Melbourne St., West Maitland, New South Wales.

Awarded Military Medal 
'For gallant devotion to duty.  During period 25th July to 5th August this man acted as telephonist and messenger between Front Line and Bn, H.Q.  the line was repeatedly out by shell fire and McGlashan unhesitatingly and repaired the breaks.  when the line failed he carried messaged through severe barrages  when requested.'

AWARDED D.C. MEDAL.
Official word has been received in Humula by Mrs. Arthur McGlashan that her son, Private Arthur William McGlashan, was killed in France August 26th last. The deceased soldier was only 20 years of age, and enlisted in Sydney at the beginning June of last year. The recent millitary awards include private McGlashan , who was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. The sympathy of the district is extended to the bereaved mother, but , she can know some consolation in that, her son had died a noble death, and his services  have been of such a worthy character as to earn a military medal - for distinguished service.
