His brothers, 1582 Private Hercules Lionel 'Bob' Clarke, 19th Battalion AIF; and 1593A Pte Julius Ordo 'Ordo' Clarke, 19th Battalion AIF, were killed during the Second Battle of Bullecourt; Ordo was killed in action on 3 May 1917, and Bob died of wounds a day later.
Reg Clarke survived the war and returned to Australia in January 1919. They were the sons of Bonus and Mary Isabel Clarke, of North Bondi, New South Wales.
