Before the War:

Frederick Harrold James was born in July 1893. His place of birth was Nyngan, New South Wales, Australia. His only known family members are his mother Penelope Johnson. Before the war he was working a Stockman at his farm.

During the War:

At the age of 22, on the 4th of May 1916, Frederick Johnson enlisted in the AIF. He embarked on the 12th of August 1916 to Europe. On the 22nd of December the same year he was admitted into hospital for sickness, his return date is unknown. He was then moved to the 5th Div Base Depot on the 11th January 1917, where he was then wounded in action a month later. On the 16th of February he was wounded in action due to a severe injury to his right thigh. He embarked to England on the 23rd and arrived in Brighton a day later, where he was admitted to hospital. His return date is unknown but it is assumed to be before the 17th of April 1918 when he marched through France via Folkstone. He was then sent to hospital sick on the 21st July 1918, where he was discharged on the 27th and then re-joined the 32nd Battalion. He was then promoted to Lance Corporal on the 2nd of August. He finally fell ill on the 23rd of October and was discharged 4 days later.

After the War:

Frederick Johnson returned to Australia on the 5th of July 1919, back to his hometown in New South Wales. He eventually passed away due to unknown causes on the 24th of July 1966.
