Robert Oakley John CLARIDGE was born in Gympie, Queensland on 26th September, 1898

His parents were Ernest Augustus CLARIDGE & Jane Elizabeth SMITH

He enlisted in Brisbane on 11th January, 1916 & embarked with the 41st Infantry Battalion, 6th reinforcements from Sydney on the HMAT Demosthenes on 23rd December, 1916

Robert died on 3rd August, 1918 at sea on H.T. Warilda which sunk due to enemy action (torpedo)

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Hollybrook Memorial in Southampton, England
