Biography contributed by Andreena Hockley

"Quartermaster-Sergeant William Jarrott, formerly a junior teacher at School No. 643, Wangaratta, was the son of Mr. Thomas Jarrott, of Myrrhee.

After completing his elementary-school course, he attended the Wangaratta High School, and then became a junior teacher at Myrtleford. The head teacher at Myrtleford describes him as a young man of sound common sense and good judgment, earnest in his work, of fine physique and manly bearing, deservedly respected for his blameless life.

He enlisted on the 11th of January, 1916, and embarked as a Sergeant with the 37th Battalion on the transport Persic on the 3rd of June, 1916. After training in England, he went with his unit to France on the 22nd of November, 1916, and was killed on the 9th of June, 1917."
