Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Alfred Sadler was the son of Alfred Edward and Alice Anne Sadler, of 106, Morehead St., Redfern, NSW; husband of Mary Margaret Sadler, of 3, Clifton Terrace, Frenchmans Rd., Randwick, NSW.
His older brother, 1260 Pte William Edward Sadler, 18th Battalion AIF had been killed in action at Gallipoli 22 August 1915, aged 30.
Alfred as a member of the 54th Battalion simply vanished from the face of the earth on 19 July 1916. One soldier in his Red Cross file stated he saw him wounded during the early part of the action. His wife remarried soon after the war. His mother stated he was also a cricketer and footballer on his Roll of Honour form.
