Biography contributed by Heather Ernszt

This young soldier was 19 years of age whe he enlisted in Adelaide on the 15th July 1915.  As he did not have his parent's permission, he altered his name and adjusted his age.  This only came to light when his father became aware of his death and wrote to the authorities.

Robert William MOORS was born in Broken Hill, NSW in 1896 to parents Harriet and Humphrey MOORS.

There were three children, and elder sister and a younger brother who also enlisted.

Private James Humphrey MOORS was also under age when he enlisted in October 1915 in Victoria.  Although he was only 15 years of age, he claimed to be 19 and provided a letter of approval from his father.

On the 28th July 1916, Private MOORE/MOORS died from the wounds he received at Pozieres, France.
