"...2277 Private Leslie Albert Bale, 35th Battalion of Granville, NSW. A wood turner prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Borda (A30) on 17 October 1916. He was wounded in action on 7 June 1917 at Messines Ridge, France and died at the 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, France on 13 June 1917, aged 23.
