William Fulton was born in Tipperary Ireland in 1878. He was 36 when he enlisted. His occupation was a firefighter and his Religion was Roman Catholic. He was not married. During his time before the war he did not have family or children. His next of kin was, his Sister Mrs K Campion who lived at 118 Brice St, Cape Town, South Africa. He had previously served 3 years in service D.E.O.V.R Cape Intd Rifles.
William Fulton enlisted in the AIF on August 26 1914 into the 10th Battalion. He embarked at Adelaide on the H.M.A.T. A11 Ascanius on the 20/10/14 and he went to Egypt. While in Egypt he was continually in trouble:
- 7/12/14 – Absent without leave for 4 days
- 13-16/12/14 – Absent from camp while in detention
- 18/12/14- Breaking arrest under detention
- 25/12/14 – Breaking arrest under detention
- 31/01/15 – Absent without leave and use of obscene language towards officer
As a result of this he was recommended for disciplinary discharge; in the words of his commander's report he was "a most objectionable and incorrigible fellow". On 5/3/15 he sailed from Suez per R.M.S Molaja and disembarked at Adelaide. He was discharged at Adelaide on 10/4/15 for disciplinary reasons.
